FAQ
Your Questions Answered
Here are some of the most common questions we get from learner drivers in Newcastle.
How long is each lesson?
Each lesson lasts 2 hours, as this duration is ideal for reinforcing learning, helping muscle memory to develop, and ensuring the topic is fully understood and practiced without feeling rushed.
What age can I start driving lessons?
In the UK, you can start driving lessons from the age of 17, as long as you hold a valid provisional driving licence. However, if you receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you can start driving lessons from the age of 16.
Can I start lessons without passing the theory test?
Yes, you can start driving lessons before passing your theory test. In fact, many learners find that taking practical lessons alongside studying for the theory test helps them understand the rules of the road more effectively.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
How many lessons will I need before the driving test?
The number of lessons varies for each learner, depending on previous experience, confidence, and how quickly you pick things up. The DVSA recommends around 45 hours of professional lessons plus 20 hours of private practice. However, some learners may need fewer, while others may benefit from more to feel fully prepared and confident for the test.
How do I pay for lessons?
You can pay for your lessons in cash or online via bank transfer. For block bookings, payment is usually made in advance to secure your discounted rate.
